EXPIRED - Nectar ‘500 Bonus Avios’ 2021 Offer

To mark the start of their new partnership (after the Avios/Tesco Clubcard partnership ended), Nectar and British Airways are offering you 500 Bonus Avios points when you convert 1600 Nectar Points to Avios between January 25th and the 14th of February, 2021 (inclusive).

On top of the 500 bonus Avios, once converted you’ll also start earning double Nectar Points on all your Sainsbury’s shopping until the 19th of April.

Is The Bonus Avios Offer Worth It?

Bottom line? The 500 Bonus Avios offer from Nectar is definitely worth it!

1600 Nectar Points are normally valued at £8 with standard Nectar rewards. That’s boosted to between £5 and £34 when you convert Nectar Points to Avios. That’s the standard value you’re getting, already a boost.

With the 500 Bonus Avios offer, your 1600 Nectar Points are now worth 1500 Avios (£7.50 to £51 of Avios value)

That’s not even taking into account the double Nectar Points you’ll earn on your Sainsbury’s shop (from conversion date until the 19th of April).

If you were to convert all your Nectar Points to Avios, you’d normally earn between 0.5% and 3.4% back in Avios value from your Sainsbury’s shop. With the double points offer, you’re now getting between 1% and 6.8% back on your shop in Avios value.

How To Get The 500 Bonus Avios

To get the 500 Bonus Avios you’re going to need to link your Nectar account to your BA Avios account and then convert 1600 Nectar Points to Avios:

• Step 1: Sign in to your Nectar Account

• Step 2: Click ‘Let Your Points Take You Further’ on the Nectar Homepage

• Step 3: Scroll down to link your Nectar and Avios accounts

• Step 4: Transfer 1600 Nectar Points ‘in one single conversion’ to BA Avios

• Enter the email verification code

• That’s it!

You’ll note that I said ‘in one single conversion’. If you transfer your points in increments, you won’t get the 500 Bonus points. It needs to be one manual or auto-conversion of 1600 Nectar Points on or by the 14th of February.

The 500 Bonus BA Avios Points will be credited to your BA account within 28 days of the offer’s closing date (so by Sunday 14th March).

When Do You Start Earning Double Nectar Points at Sainsbury’s?

You’ll start earning double nectar points on your Sainsbury’s shop from the date of your Nectar to Avios conversion.

You’ll now earn 2 Nectar Points per £1 spent at Sainsbury’s, rather that 1.

The offer applies when you shop at Sainsbury’s online or in-store between your conversion date and the 19th of April 2021 (inclusive). The offer only applies to base points so you won’t get double points on Nectar offers and it also exclusives Argos, Sainsbury’s Bank and in-store/3rd party concessions

The double nectar points will be credited to your Nectar account within 28 days of the 19th April (so by the 17th of May 2021)

Can You Only Get The 500 Bonus Avios Once?

Yes, you’ll only get the 500 Bonus Avios points once. You can’t keep converting 1600 Nectar Point increments to grab additional bonus points.

Can I Transfer Some Avios Back and Keep the 500 Points?

If you reverse the 1600 Nectar Point conversion, you won’t get the 500 Bonus Avios points.

You can still convert your Avios to Nectar points but I wouldn’t recommend it (as you’ll likely better value from Avios) and it might risk the 500 Bonus points.
